Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I finished Pride and Prejudice. FINALLY. My gosh. That was a really long book. The book was actually good. I know how some people might think that just because its historical or uses old english, its boring. But, it's really not. Some parts might be very detailed and you might consider it boring, but the main plot is definately VERY interesting. In the end, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy married which I was SOOO happy about. I think they deserved each other. Although Mr. Darcy, at first was a bit pompous and arrogant, he changed later on the in the book, and you got to see his soft side. I'm also a bit sad that Lydia ran off with Mr. Winston. But I'm glad that Jane and Mr. Bingley married, they were good for each other since the start of the book. It seems that only Elizabeth and Jane had a happy ending. The other 2 girls didn't get husbands. Well, I would recommend this book to somebody for sure.

I am almost done with the book. There are a few chapters left. Right now, Elizabeth is realizing that she loves Mr. Darcy. Her feelngs are in conflict and she feels confused about the situation. But, Mr. Darcy had loved Elizabeth for quiet a time and he even proposed to her but she had refused. I found a poem, that, I feel represents how Elizabeth really does feel at the moment but she doesn't realize it.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

This book Pride and Prejudice is actually a good book. I've read historical fiction...and...it just wasn't my cup of tea. But this book is different. Although there are A LOT of old fashioned words and phrases, it's a good book. It takes me double the time because I have to read over some parts because of the language. This book is mostly about a woman named Ms. Bennet with a husband (Mr. Bennet) and her 5 daughters (Elizabeth, Lydia, Jane, Kitty, and Mary). Ms. Bennet wants her daughters to marry because if none of the daughters marry then when Mr. Bennet dies, the property will go to their cousin, who they have never met before. A man named Mr. Bingley comes into town and Ms. Bennet wants one of her daughters to marry him. Mr. Bingley meets Jane, and says that she is "the most beautiful creature" he had ever seen. Mr. Bingley brings a friend named Mr. Darcy. Nobody likes him because he is arrogant and pompous (although he is supposedly rich and handsome). Later on though Mr. Darcy starts to develop feelings for Elizabeth but she hates him. Jane and Mr. Bingley like each other. Jane goes to Mr. Bingley's house to have dinner and she spend the night there. She catches a bad cold though, and has to stay a few days. Elizabeth rushes to the house and stays by Jane. Mr. Darcy sees this and becomes more attracted to Elizabeth. Later on, Mr. Collins who will inherit their fortune if nobody is married comes and dines with them. He is searching for a wife and he turns his attention onto Elizabeth as a wife. Later on, the girls are out in town and they meet Mr. Wickham who they find handsome and charming. Mr. Wickham apparently tells Elizabeth how Mr. Darcy kept money for himself rather than giving Mr. Wickham money and says how he is a bad person. Elizabeth believes him because she already dislikes Mr. Darcy. Mr Collins proposes to Elizabeth but, she refuses. Mr. Collins, having been rejected proposes to Elizabeth's best friend, and her best friend accepts.Then, a letter comes and tells Jane that Mr. Bingley wants to marry another woman and Jane becomes upset. But then, a family friend is going to London and they see how upset Jane is and invite her along. Jane takes the opportunity in hopes of meeting Mr. Bingley and changing his mind. Elizabeth also goes along.

That is all I read so far. The book is pretty confusing because of so many characters and the language, but its a good book overall.

Friction by E.R Frank

Friction was actually a love/hate book. The reason why is you love this book so much you hate it. You get so involved into the book that you start to feel like you are actually there and you develop feelings for the characters.
The book was about a girl named Stacy who comes into a school and creates drama. The school is not a regular school. It's 8th grade and every class has only one teacher named Simon. The story is told from Alex's point of view. Alex and Simon have a friendly teacher-student relationship. Alex also has a best friend named Tim who secretly likes her. But then, for some reason, Stacy starts making up rumors that Simon is sexually harassing Alex which isn't true. At first, nobody believes her, but then events start happening that support Stacy's theory. But all the events are just misunderstood, Stacy twists the words to make the event seem wrong. Later on, all the people start to believe Stacy and Tim also believes her. Alex then, also gets confused. At first she thought of Simon as a teacher, but then she starts to think of him as a man and she becomes uncomfortable around him. In the end, they find out that Stacy's dad was sexually abusing her and the only way she was able to speak out about it was to blame it on someone else. Simon lost his job because of Stacy's accusations. Stacy moves away and Alex starts a new school. Tim starts an all boys school. In the beginning Stacy says "let's get this party started" the minute she enters the classroom. At the end of the book, Alex is in a new school and she says "let's get this party started" when she enters the classroom which makes me wonder, is Alex going to be like Stacy? The ending was a good cliffhanger but really frustrated me because I don't want Alex to be like Stacy AT ALL.
This book was a good book to read. I would definately recommend this book although I would warn people that the book could be very addicting.

The Black Sheep by Yvonne Collins and Sandy Rideout

I read the book Black Sheep, which was basically a bit boring at times. It was mainly about this girl named Kendra who "accidentally yet puposely" sent a reality tv show a letter saying how she wanted to switch families. She ends up being picked, but by now, she doesn't want to. She relunctantly agrees and everything becomes pandemonium. Basically, there's no climax which is a bit wrong for a piece of literature. The book was basically almost like a biography, she was just going through her daily life. The only interesting part was when she started liking the new family's son. They start to secretly date because one of the producers, Judy is following her everywhere. I think this book does give an insight onto how reality tv shows are actually made. And it was a bit annoying how everything Kendra did, Judy took that and twisted it to make her seem like a bad person and making people tune in to see the next episode. I really hated Judy. Well, anyway, this book is okay for reading, but only if you're bored. If you're looking for a good book you can sit down with a cup of hot chocolate on a rainy night, do not read this book. Read this book if you have nothing better to do.

Thirsty by M.T Anderson

I finished this book a while ago but I wanted to do a blog entry. This book was very.....interesting...I guess. That is the right word. At first, the book was normal, a normal guy at a normal school with two best friends (One's whos name is jerk which is completely weird and I read that part over like 15 times to make sure I wasn't imagining things). But then later on, things get weirder. They start talking about how the town is looking for vampires. It struck me as odd that having vampires in their town is normal and nobody is really scared. I would be terrified if I knew vampires were roaming around town. Later on, all of a sudden some weird vampire guy dressed all in black comes up and talks to the main character (Chris) and it's just so weird because now the main character is a vampire (like what the heck??) and he starts talking about some orb or something to get rid of the dark lord. He makes a deal with Chris that if he gets the orb he will cure him of his vampireness? Okay, after this part, I was just like what...and I read over the chapter like 3 times until I sort of understood. Later on, he goes through this whole thing and get the orb into this portal? (I don't know..) and then the dark lord is safe. That was weird. And then in the end, Chris becomes a full vampire but he doesn't want to be and he wants to change back but then the vampire guy disappears? and leaves him alone. In the end, he's at home and his family is asleep and the book keeps saying "I am thirsty, I am so very thirsty" and then it ends. That part creeped me out a lot. I read this right before going to bed and I couldn't sleep because I thought the guy was going to come and suck my blood. It was weird.

I didn't really like this book, but I let Allison read it before me and she said it was a good book. This struck me definately as odd. This book was not really one of my favorites and lead me more baffled then satisfied.

Questions and Comments:
This book is the second book in the series Private. The other book was about a private boarding school. Reed is introduced as a freshman to this new school. Then, there are the legendary Billing Girls. The Billing Girls apparently are like "The Mean Girls" movie. They control basically everyone and almost everything. Reed longs to be one of them and in the end of the first book, she does. The second book then starts. Apparently she has to clean for the Billing Girls as part of a deal for them accepting her into their dorm room. A girl then blackmails her with a picture that could get her kicked out of school. In return, she has to snoop through the things of the girls who accepted her and who she considered her friends, for evidence to be used against them in a recent cheating scandal. I think that Reed is actually very brave and I can understand her position. She is actually snooping and she is finding weird things. It makes me think twice, because my first impression was that the Billing Girls were a group of spoiled rich kids, but apparently they have problems, some serious and some minor. Near the end of the book, Reed agrees to go to some party called "The Legacy" which is top secret and you can only be admitted if your family has been in New York for about 4 generations. Reed can only get in a certain way, through a guy, as a date. She finally gets in. There, the party lives up to its expectations with luxurious rooms and expensive gifts ranging from the thousands. She tries desperately to look for Thomas, which I think if a waste of time. Her boyfriend, Thomas is currently MIA suddenly and nobody knows where he went. After a while, she confronts the Billing Girls about the things she found and they tell her that it was all a test to see if they could trust her. I found this part especially shocking because everyone played their part SO well, so it was a bit unbelievable when they suddenly had a twist like that. I was kind of pissed at the same time because I felt that they had no right to decieve Reed like that. After she finds out, they tell her that she passed the test and she is officially accepted into the Billings House. They go on with the party and soon sneak into their private school. Suddenly, they see that there are police cars everywhere on campus. Reed then hears that her boyfriend is dead. The book ends, which is a huge cliffhanger.

I think this book was really good. The first one was good too and I didn't know if Kate Brian could top the first one but she did. The book was very suspenseful as well as entertaining. There were hardly any boring parts in the book. I plan on reading the next book, Untouchable, soon.
